Acupuncture Explained

Acupuncture is rapidly growing as a complementary therapy to support health in the UK and is recognised by the British Medical Association.

Acupuncture as practiced by member of the British Acupuncture Council is an holistic approach to health care based upon 2000 years of development and refinement in the Far East.  The practice is as much about the maintenance of health as it is about the management of disease.

Although often described as a method for dealing with pain, it has a much wider usage as described below.

According to Chinese philosophy our health is dependent on our body’s motivating energy, commonly known as qi or “Chi”.  The flow of qi can be disturbed by a variety of factors on a body, mind or spirit level.  These could be events in your life such as anxiety, stress, shock, injury, fear, grief, poor nutrition, weather, trauma.

With the use of fine needles the acupuncturist stimulates the body’s own healing response and helps to restore our natural balance and health.
